There are many defining moments that have shaped the history of your own local community. You just need to know where to look.

Use this Google Map Community Audit to begin your search and record these events. You can add and categorise locations and record a description of each event or place.

Before starting, make sure that you don’t upload any information that you don’t want others to see. You should also get permission to include information about people from your community or to use their photos in this activity. Please contact your teacher for help if you aren’t sure what to include.

You can then share your audit map with family and friends.

How to use

Before starting, make sure that you don’t upload any informationthat you don’t want others to see. You should also get permission to include information about people from your community or to use their photos in this activity. Please contact your teacher for help if you aren’t sure what to include.

Add your Defining Moment in your community locations to the map by clicking on the map or using the ‘Add Location’ button.

If you would like to add your locations without clicking the map, you can disable the ‘Click to Add’ feature in the settings menu.

Once you have added your community locations, you can use the ‘Share My Map’ button to obtain a link that will allow you to share your locations with your teacher and friends.

To view all of the locations you have added, click the ‘View as List’ button. To reset your map and clear all of your data, select the reset button.

Finally, use your audit notes to help develop your community defining moments timeline.
