Every family has its own defining moments.
Events that have shaped your life and the lives of those who have lived before you - your parents, grandparents and even great grandparents.
Your family’s defining moments may be personal (school life, pets, friendships, holidays) but they might also be influenced by outside events (employment, migration, natural disasters). Family members will be great to talk to as you build up a detailed picture of your family history.
In the following activities you get to investigate the defining moments of two very different families. You can also play a defining moments quiz with a friend before you research and create your own family’s defining moments’ timeline. And don’t forget to place some of these moments in your top 5 collection to share with friends and the National Museum of Australia. Good luck!
